9 out of 10 jobs in Omani gas and oil sector to be given to locals

Oman has announced new targets of “omanisation” of jobs in the private sector. Omanisation is the Omani policy for securing more job places in the private sector for Omani nationals. Omanisation has become increasingly more important recently, the Gulfnews reports. Approximately 40 thousand Omanis seek job every year after graduation, most commonly in the private sector. Companies must submit plans for meeting the new targets by August 15. At least 9 out of 10 workers in the oil and gas, banking and tourism sectors should be given to Omani nationals. In contracting sector this figure stands at 30%, while in consultancy companies half of all engineering posts should be given to locals.
