A ban on outdoor construction works in the afternoon will come into effect in Bahrain and UAE on Wednesday. The ban applies to the hottest hours of the day and is designed to prevent workers from suffering heat strokes. In Bahrain the ban will last till October and will ban all outdoor work from 12 to 16pm. There is a 300 dinar fine per each worker for violating the ban. In UAE the ban will be in effect till September (12.30-15.00pm). Qatar also has similar restrictions. In UAE last week over 70 workers were taken to hospital due to heat strokes, while in Bahrain over 500 companies were fined for violating the law last year. As
Arabian Business reports, this year about 50 officers will be inspecting Bahraini construction sites to prevent violations.
