Abbas warns Quarter of peace talks failure

Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas warned in a Sunday interview that the international peacemaking Quartet will have “failed” if it cannot start negotiations by January 26. “If the Quartet can't get the Israeli and Palestinian sides to the table by January 26, it means they have failed and the Palestinian leadership will study its position and act accordingly,” Alarabiya.net quotes Mr Abbas as saying. January 26 is the deadline set by the international peacemaking Quartet consisting of Russia, the USA,the UN and the EU for Israel and the Palestinians to submit proposals on territory and security while the group works to resume peace talks.
