Egypt celebrates Mubarak quit
1:03 AM
Egypt rejoices the end of President Hosni Mubarak's 30 years regime. Fireworks lit the skies of Cairo and protesters shed tears of joy as they were informed about Mubarak’s departure. The power has moved to the hands of the high command of the armed forces, headed by the defence minister. Demonstrators in central Cairo continued to jubilate the departure of Mr Mubarak into the night, dancing, chanting slogans and singing songs. In Cairo's central Tahrir Square the news was met with celebration by a crowd of tens of thousands. "Breaking news: The people have brought down the regime," bbc.co.uk quotes a huge poster hanging in the square as reading. US President Barack Obama in his speech said Egypt must now move to civilian and democratic rule.
