A recent opinion poll among managers of leading recruiting agencies in the UAE has shown a considerable fall in average salary in the country. During the first half of this year companies reduced salaries in an attempt to cut expenses, the Arabian Business reports. According to the poll results, 65% of respondents think that the average salary fell by 26-30%. Twenty per cent of respondents think that salaries dropped by 11-20%. Some people, think that the fall was smaller than 10% (10% of those interviewed), or that it was about 40% (55 of respondents). However, they agree that the lower level of salaries reflects lower rent prices and decreasing level of inflation.
