WFP: war in Mogadishu not hampering food relief distribution
6:39 AM
The World Food Programme said that fighting between pro-government forces and insurgents had not yet hampered food relief distribution in Mogadishu. "The second airlift of specialised nutritional food for malnourished children has arrived this morning in Mogadishu," the UN food agency's spokeswoman Emilia Casella said, Middle-east-online.com reported. Nevertheless she added that "definitely the fighting in Mogadishu is a concern." Somalia is the worst affected country by a prolonged starvation caused by drought in the Horn of Africa.
