| A press-conference organized by Bankconference Company within the framework of the First International conference “Islamic Banking: specific & perspectives” was held in The Ritz Carlton on the 17-th of March of 2009. The main emphasis was made on the presentation by Mr. Salman Syed Ali, the Islamic Development Bank. It consisted in the explanation of the specific of the financial model in the Islamic Banking and also of the importance of the banking system regulation process. ‘Theory and practice are one thing, but any bank system can encounter its own obstacles. The Islamic financing system itself is growing, but I can’t say that the Islamic Banking System has immunity against the crisis...’ Mr. Salman Syed Ali stated during his presentation.
Arabinform.com was interested in the development of the Islamic banking in Russia, for example, in original Islamic republics, notably Dagestan. This republic is included in the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation, where Islam was adopted approximately in century VII AD. ‘The Islamic Development Bank is an International Islamic Financial Institution, which does not represent a traditional bank.’ As was mentioned, even if the Islamic Development Bank undertakes any financial actions, they are primarily connected with humanitarian and social projects. The Islamic Development Bank is interested in closer collaboration with Russia. A letter on this subject has been directed to Mr. Ignatiev. Unfortunately, the management of the Islamic Development Bank has not yet received from Mr. Ignatiev any response to this letter. |
